Product Ordering & Initial Application
Learn about the Marine Customs ordering process, from beginning to end.
Absolutely. If your boat is located within any of our Florida service areas, we could perform a digital scan of your deck onsite at your location or you could trailer the boat to our shop in Melbourne, FL for a scan to be completed. Both of these options would require scheduling. Additionally, if you're outside of our service area, you could purchase a templating kit so you can provide us with tracings of all areas to be covered. If you have dimensions for the custom piece you're needing, we can create a layout using this information.
This is not recommended. Even with a very small shrink rate, a small gap between sheets will be present. We recommend leaving a 1/8 inch gap between panels.
Marine Customs Non-Skid Decking adheres very well to most molded-in non-skids and properly applied and maintained aggregate type non-skid paints, as long as the surface is cleaned properly.
- Use isopropyl alcohol or acetone on the surface area. Thoroughly clean thesurface area where MARINE MAT or U-DEK will be applied.
- Make sure all grease, adhesive, mold-release, wax and other substances are removed before installing the product. The area must be completely dry before applying pads.
Product Maintenance
Our foam boat decking is low-maintenance, but still needs some special care from time to time.
Our marine decking cleans easily with any form of deck soap and a soft, medium or stiff bristled deck brush.
In addition, a number of household products can be used when attending to any stubborn stains such as Dawn, Simple Green, 409 etc. Please do not use bleach or any form of acid based cleaner such as Soft Scrub or MaryKate’s Hull Cleaner.
***Note: because of excessive heating when exposed to sunlight, black is not recommended as a top color. Therefore, it is not covered under the product warranty.
Our product is the perfect addition for any boater wanting to add some safety and comfort for their dog/s. Cats on the other hand……..not so good as they have a tendency to use our product as a scratch pad. With that being said, if cats will be on or have access to your boat, this product is not the best solution for you.
Assuming proper prepping has been done, you can expect at least 5-7 years of life, however, every situation can be unique in regards to how the boat is stored and protected from the elements. For situations where the deck is saturated or submerged in water for long durations of time and your deck has a very aggressive non-skid, you will experience moisture ingress over time which will then ultimately affect the integrity of the adhesive.
Yes, if the edge has slightly come up, use an acrylic based super glue. If the sheet has completely come up, you can use a 3M high tac spray adhesive. If that does not work, you'll need to order a replacement part from us.
